MSPO 2.0 (MS2530:2022) Certification

The national standard for oil palm plantations, independent and organized smallholders, and palm oil processing facilities.

What is MSPO?

The Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) Certification Scheme is the national scheme in Malaysia for oil palm plantations, independent and organized smallholders, and palm oil processing facilities to be certified against the requirements of the MSPO Standards.

Launched in 2013 and made mandatory, the standard was recently upgraded to MS 2530:2022 to meet changing global sustainability requirements and credibility.

Why is it Mandatory?

The Malaysian government mandated MSPO certification to:

  • Ensure the entire industry, including smallholders, adheres to sustainability practices.
  • Improve the image of Malaysian Palm Oil in the global market (countering anti-palm oil campaigns).
  • Standardize practices across the supply chain to improve yield and safety.
