ISO 22301:2019
Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS).
ISO 22301:2019 sets out the requirements for a business continuity management system (BCMS). It helps organizations identify time-critical activities, assess the impact of disruption, define recovery priorities, and maintain delivery through incidents such as cyberattacks, system outages, fire, flood, supply chain failure, or other operational crises.
Important Update
In February 2024, ISO amended ISO 22301 to incorporate climate change considerations. Organizations are now required to determine whether climate change is a relevant issue affecting their context, and interested parties may have requirements related to climate change.
Key Benefits
- Identify critical activities and acceptable downtime before disruption occurs.
- Establish recovery strategies, incident response roles, and continuity plans.
- Test and improve preparedness through exercises and management review.
- Protect revenue, service levels, and stakeholder confidence during disruption.
Who Needs This?
Organizations with critical operations, customer SLAs, regulated services, multiple sites, or high dependence on people, systems, logistics, or suppliers.
* Compliance is often mandatory for government tenders and corporate supply chains.
